APL THEATRE requires an experienced and flexible ASSISTANT PRODUCER/TOUR BOOKER, initially for a period of work of up to 120 hours over several months, commencing as soon as possible.

The engagement related specifically to our intention to tour our production of THE LITTLE MERMAID(Family, Musical, Pantomime, Comedy) across Summer/Autumn 2021. We hope that this will mark the beginning of a longer-term collaboration.

We would like to hear from interest parties who meet the following essential criteria:

  • A substantial knowledge of and wide-ranging contacts in the UK touring theatre circuit (INDOOR & OUTDOOR)

  • International touring contacts

  • A proven track record of selling theatre shows into appropriate contexts within the UK

  • Demonstrable skills in strategic thinking

  • Confidence in negotiating deals and remaining fiscally prudent

  • Producing experience with a passion to expand experience/skills/knowledge

  • Word/Excel/Computer proficient with excellent communicative skills

  • A strong interest in representing APL Theatre


The successful applicant will be expected to deliver the following (including but not limited to):


  • Work with the Executive Producer on the detailed arrangements and financial parameters of each show.

  • Collaborate with the Executive Producer to determine the most suitable receiving venues for the production.

  • Negotiate deals with venues to achieve the best possible result for the show in terms of technical support and marketing and achieve ambitious income targets for APL Theatre.

  • Prepare deal memos for each touring theatre, ensuring that any guaranteed or box office income to APL Theatre will not be offset by unanticipated contras.


The successful applicant will be remunerated as follows:

Tour Booking:           Hourly Fee (Negotiable – dependant on experience) + Expenses. Additional performance incentives are available and negotiable.

Assistant Producer:  Negotiated percentage from NBOR.
